Random Facts about Stephanie:

  • On the maternal side of the family, Mrs. Saramma Jesus was godmother to only one granddaughter – Stephanie (hence her middle name).
  • Stephanie played basketball and volleyball for the Sugar Land Middle School, Kempner High School, and the church team. 

         * Volleyball was her forte, and taught her brother how to play well too.



  • Stephanie could speak fluently and limitedly write Malayalam.

          * During the summers that Stephanie was taken to India with her family    every two to three years to visit extended family.   Stephanie was taught to read and write Malayalam by her cousin, a Malayalam teacher in Kottayam, Kerala, India.



  • Stephanie was the pianist for the St. Stephens Orthodox Church Choir.
  • Stephanie was an excellent orator and was part of the debate team in school and college. 

           * Stephanie’s parents were convinced she would go on to law school due to her appetite for debating and arguing.



  • Stephanie was heavily involved with St. Stephen’s MGOCSM (church youth group).
  • Stephanie was a sorority sister of the Delta Kappa Delta (DKD) chapter on campus at Texas A&M University.

           * Many of Stephanie’s closest friends are also her DKD sisters.



  • Stephanie was a talented dancer.

           * Stephanie and her sister took Indian classical dance lessons for years.



           * Stephanie choreographed and competed in many dance competitions.



  • Stephanie was a talented singer. 

           * Stephanie and her siblings took Indian classical voice lessons for over four years.



  • She was a great painter and artist.

           * A lot of the insignia for her DKD chapter was designed and built by Stephanie.

  

  • She had a great rapport with toddlers and young children. 

          * Her passion for helping children was what lead to her interest in attaining an M.S. in Social Work.



  • She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher.

          * Stephanie took over her mom’s Sunday School class in the years after her graduation from undergraduate college.



  • She had great talents as an organizer for events, both social and church related events. 

          * For a while, Stephanie used her talents and worked with a successful wedding planning business in Houston, TX.

Stephanie was born in Houston, TX on November 18, 1987 at approximately  10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  She was raised in the suburbs of Houston for all of her life (Stafford, TX and Sugar Land, TX).

Stephanie died in the Palliative Care wing at the M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX, surrounded by her immediate family on December 12, 2011 at approximately 1:50 PM.  She has been buried in the family plot at the Forest Park Cemetery.
